COM) 19/09/00 18:40: Corp Alba to exercice option to swap 2.7 pct Airtel stake for Vodafone shares Corp Alba to exercice option to swap 2.7 pct Airtel stake for Vodafone shares MADRID (AFX) - Corp Financiera Alba SA said it will exercise the option it acquired in January to swap all its 2.738 pct stake in Airtel SA for Vodafone Group PLC stock. In a statement, Corp Alba said the operation will take place at the same time as other Airtel shareholders, namely Banco Santander Central Hispano SA, Grupo Acciona SA and several savings banks, swap their stakes in the Spanish wireless operator for Vodafone shares. The move will give Vodafone majority control of Airtel. The operation is scheduled to take place once regulatory approval, namely from the EU competition authorities, has been received, it said. The holding company added that it will receive 141.5 mln Vodafone shares in the event of the UK operator's average share price being equal or greater than 4.55 eur during the 30 days prior to the operation, or 184 mln if the price is less than equal to 3.58 eur. fb/jlw
