I don't think they paid **that** much.

Using last quarters numbers, Sun's price to sales is ~ 9, Cobalt's is ~30. In 6 months Cobalt would probably have the same price to sales as Sun at this price. Of course, they aren't making any money yet.

Compared to what Cisco has done recently, they got them for a bargain basement price.

It will be interesting to see where they go from here considering the K6-2 is dead. Will they stay 32-bit, or go 64-bit? Who's chip? The logical choice would be Pentium or Athlon, for now.
