Good question. If you are looking for the beef, the first assumption you have to make is that the market for Intel stock was purposely manipulated, for the manipulator's profit. (I don't know if this is true, in fact I suspect that it isn't true)

If someone did manipulate the trading in Intel stock, and you and jmac happened to be on the right side of the trade, it doesn't make the actions legal or ethical. If that was indeed the case, the responsible parties should be prosecuted in both the civil and criminal courts. We are talking about $Billions in market cap, not petty theft.

The stock market has long had a rugged reputation, buyer beware. But participation in the markets has increased, much less sophisticated folks are betting their retirement dollars on the assumption that they have a level playing field. They are the most likely to get stung by a downgrade/upgrade scam.

Change isn't always bad,
