Scumbria,

It is not unusual for a new memory technology to have some compatibility issues. When this happens, OEM's issue a list of compatible memory sticks.

Gosh, that makes me feel LOTS better. Kinda reminds me of buying my first SDRAM system in July 1996. It had 32M of memory. In 1998 I went to upgrade it. I called Crucial and ordered a 32M DIMM for a Gateway P200. It didn't work. Crucial, bless their hearts, had me send it back at their charge and sent me another. It didn't work either. They had me send it back again (again, on their nickel) but this time told me that the Gateway implementation of SDRAM was not the implementation that was now the "standard". I'd have to go to Gateway to upgrade my memory. It only cost me $300 from Gateway instead of the $200 that Crucial wanted to charge.

I get all tingly thinking about it. Of course, I've forgiven all of the manufacturers completely and am more than willing to dive right back in and buy some incompatible technologies. NOT!

Dave
