I don't expect Compaq to ship meaningful quantities for P4 retail systems this year because they will by much to expensive for the retail market initially. The 1 GHz Athlon are probably closeouts because they are still Slot A systems if I recall correctly. The question is if they will be replaced by 1+ GHz Thunderbird systems (KT133) or by 1 GHz P3s... At very good sign is IMO that Compaq is now selling Durons in retail (has anyone spotted them already?), so at least infrastructure support is there.

BTW, was the 1 GHz P3 from Compaq or from HP?
