So moving from AMD/K-6 to 64-bit Itanium makes sense? Sticking with Intel makes sense? Sun will move to US-III, as soon as it makes sense, i.e. for the next version after the K-6 runs out.

Why did Sun just spend $2 Billion to get a new product only to replace it right away with its own existing technology?

Brand, market, customers, software, time. IMO they'll only replace the chip and O/S.

Even I don't think the Sun management is this dumb.
