Dear ciV,
Arguing against Calvinism here is a frustrating experience.
It appears that Jonah knew God better than most people read this;
Jonah 4
10 But the Lord said, "You have been concerned about this vine, though you did not tend it or make it grow. It sprang up overnight and died overnight. 11 But Nineveh has more than one hundred and twenty thousand people who can not tell their right hand from their left, and many cattle as well. Should I not be concerned about that great city?"

Jonah had said I know you are gracious and compassionate slow to anger and abounding in love, and that made him angry because he wanted them (the other people) to be destroyed by God. God loved the many people in Nineveh and if you know history it was not a very moral place. Just some thoughts.
May the Lord Bless You,
Nancy
