ADC sees $500 mln in revs from Broadband Access buy

NEW YORK, Sept 20 (Reuters) - Telecommunications equipment maker ADC Telecommunications Inc. (NASDAQ:ADCT) expects to see $500 million in revenues around 2004 or 2005 from its purchase of Broadband Access Systems, Chief Financial Officer Robert Switz said on Wednesday.

Minneapolis-based ADC said on Wednesday it would buy privately held Broadband Access, a start-up developer of high-speed data and voice delivery systems, in a $2.25 billion stock-for-stock deal.

Speaking in a telephone conference call, Switz said ADC estimated revenues from the purchase would be about $5 million in fiscal year 2000 and $60 million in fiscal 2001.

The revenue figure could rise "in the 2004, 2005 time frame to half-a-billion dollars," he said.

"As we look at the synergies associated with the transaction and the channel power and leverage of ADC, we think there is likely to be upside to the estimate," Switz said.
