I studied in a Missionary school where the emphasis was on World History and medieval history in Europe. They conveniently ignored Indian history which was passed on to us by word of mouth by our families. The CAUSE of the war as I know was that an individual Mangal Pandey shot a major of his infantry division. What, I do not know is if he was forced to bite the lard ladened bullet. Many of my friends know about 1857 sepoy mutiny but they do not know about the details. I will dig for more details.
