For example, mourning and evening rush hours: you bid for cabs by holding up your hand and extending 1 finger you are bidding 1 X the posted fare, 2 fingers 2 X the posted fare. etc. If you are from the US and hold up your hand with all five fingers out, you've just bid 5 x the posted fare.
