Glenn, could this be bad for Phone.com? >Amazon also played down the future of wireless shopping in Europe, where a unified standard for mobile telephones has helped wireless e-mail and Web browsing take off much faster than in the United States, which is still wrangling with competing technologies. "People are overestimating the role of wireless in Europe in terms of buying. Buying online through a wireless telephone is picking up, but picking up very, very slowly," said Diego Piacentini, Amazon vice president for international operations.
