I2: Brinker seemed floored by that story. Doubtless, we shall hear him repeat it in shows to come. Even though the lady said she withdrew $900,000 over the ten years, that sum, with the $250,000 remaining, only equals $1,150,000 out of the original $1,500,000 "investment"! Didn't Brinker opine that, had she put the money in a no-load index fund, she would now have about $2 million, notwithstanding the $900,000 withdrawal? Now she is stuck, i.e., too old to take risks in a market that is too high for any strategy but dollar cost averaging.
If anyone ever made money on limited partnerships, the illiquid kind that were peddled incessantly during those heady days of the 1980's, I haven't heard about it. Only horror stories, as with that lady who called Brinker.
