Maurice...

>>>Some people also like to boast about their fortune and that's okay<<<

For fear of starting a major rant, what does OK mean to you Maurice? Not sure of your definition so I'll defer to you on such a judgement...but around here it is considered rude and bad form to boast.

Last time I checked the manners scoreboard, most cultures make the same judgement (Remember I'm the anthropologist here so careful about this one). Yeah, a winner can jump for joy at beating a world record in the Olympics...and everyone else will cheer with him or her (expect maybe his competitors, parents and fellow country men). But that is considered a proper display of emotion in most circles. Hardly a fair comparison to someone who makes frequent reminders about how right they are (especially to those who are wrong at the moment) and tosses out portfolio figures like flying spittle...wouldn't you say?

Not sure where the slave thing fits in other than we are all slaves to our own cultural evolution. This includes how we were raised of course. My children say thank you and please because that's polite. They do not brag about what they have and are very sensitive to their friends who don't have much. I could go into vivid detail here as to why these behaviors are important to my family, but I will spare you.

Mike has won his stripes with a lot of hard work and hard won experience. He has been proven right by his steely analysis and emotional control when it comes to stock trades and investment strategies...attributes I lacked and have hopefully gained over the past 8 months. It should be pretty clear to you (since I know you have kept up with the thread) that I have come to respect Mike for all the above and have said so...in addition to accepting my own idiotic behaviors that caused me to get hammered the past year.

But I'll tell you one thing Maurice, there is a sense of humility in a man's eyes who is REALLY successful. True success comes with quiet reflection and respect of what impacts one's actions and words have on others. There was a reason George Bailey had so many friends. I assume you who George Bailey was. If not...here:

Or would we prefer to have Mr. Henry F. Potter as a role model? I don't think so. I know your gentle spirit Maurice. If anything, you could have played Clarence Oddbody. So come on, let's properly re-evaluate your opinions about my opinion.

>>>It's good to succeed and I don't see why he shouldn't be happy and want people to know, just like the Olympic athletes. It doesn't attack somebody else, take their property, insult them or otherwise hurt them. They might even think to emulate the success.<<<

First, this is not like the Olympics. I made that clear above. And no, hearing someone boast isn't an attack, or an insult or a hurt...it is just RUDE! OK? If unclear about MY meaning of OK here, we can continue that discussion later as I know you are very capable of doing.
As far as emulation, I'll emulate George Bailey, thank you.

>>>I think you are...wrong about Ramsey Su and wrong about the Elitist High IQ Stream<<<

I didn't know I brought that whole issue up, but since you did...what exactly do you object to?
Let me make this very clear since apparently my previous explanations didn't accomplish what they were intended. Do you enjoy hate mail and insults via PM? I don't. And I don't respect people who use them. I think you got your share from several departed posters here. Wanna sit down and have a nice, cozy dinner with them? Good God!

I will say one thing about Mike. He is at least honest and has the guts to be up front. He says what he thinks, and I respect that. He believes in freedom of expression and the right to defend one's opinions. Even when he told me I destroyed this thread (which I guess a few people continue to use for some strange reason despite my continued presence), he did it with a measure of class the hydrocephalics you mention above can't even come close to.

You use "choice" when it comes to an individual's right to boast. Fine. It is my choice to call them like I see them as Mike does. And unlike the milk toasts on the moderated thread, we can take it.

So regardless of your take on the matter I will continue to express my opinion here on things I feel are relevant regardless of the possible reaction. That's why I wear kilts at parties and scream announcements in the dead of night on the parapet during the same...Guinness and all.

Here's to humility.

Rick

PS After writing all this, I think I have convinced myself that of all the pompous asses on this thread, Mike would be the one I would most likely buy a drink for.
