Hi all; Ixbt-labs comments on future of i840:

No Intel Chipsets On Intel Mainboards? [11:36 pm] Rat
Well, Intel seems to be also doubting whether its i840 server chipset is able to fulfill what it is destined for. What made me think so? In fact, it’s the new Intel SBT2 server mainboard for one or two Xeon CPUs, which was designed on a chipset from ServerWorks – ServerWorks Serverset III LE. The remarkable thing about SBT2 is also the fact that it supports 1GHz Xeon CPUs with 133MHz FSB.

The mainboard is equipped with 4 DIMM slots supporting up to 4GB PC133 ECC SDRAM, 7 PCI slots (including 3 64bit slots and 2 66MHz slots) and an integrated dual-channel SCSI controller from Adaptec – Adaptec AIC7899, which supports Ultra160 LVD and Ultra Wide SE devices. Besides, the mainboard is also provided with an integrated graphics core based on 4MB ATI Rage IIC, 2 IDE channels, Intel 82559 network controller and 2 USB ports. The mainboard started shipping today and costs $575.
