Crude Oil Falls as Gore Calls for Tapping Emergency
Reserves

By Jon Hurdle

London, Sept. 21 (Bloomberg) -- Crude oil fell more than 2 percent on a report
that U.S. Vice President Al Gore will today urge President Bill Clinton to release
some of the nation's emergency reserve of crude oil in an effort to lower prices.

Gore said tapping the Strategic Petroleum Reserve would ``bring more oil to the
marketplace, which would help bring gasoline prices down,'' USA Today reported.

The report has ``undermined sentiment,'' said Christopher Bellew, a broker with
Prudential Bache International.

Brent crude oil for November delivery fell as much as 83 cents, or 2.5 percent, to
$32.91 a barrel on London's International Petroleum Exchange. U.s. crude oil for
November delivery fell as much as 72 cents, or 2 percent, to $34.52 a barrel.
