Answers to SPR questions and weather observation SPR was established after Energy Crisis in early 70's. It is a STRATEGIC reserve whose main purpose is to allow us to fight a war where our oil would likely be cut off. It has only been tapped into once, during the Persion Gulf war. It is not meant, and was never meant, to deal with any economic or political "crisis". If Clinton taps it, he will most likely do so to prevent people from freezing to death this winter. This Sunday ==>high<== temps from Canada down through Oklahoma and northern Texas will be in the 40's (per the weather channel last night). Gore is an idiot of monumental proportions. There was no energy policy whatsoever during his watch. Now he says it is big oil's fault we are having problems. The problem was clearly caused by Clinton and Richardson's incompetence. Richardson can't even get his hairpiece to look real. Maybe Gore will make Larry Krudlow his secretary of war and Tom Gallagher his energy secretary. Then they could solve all our problems by taking over Saudi Arabia.
