Bilow,
The i840 is all over the map for Intel. The i840 has been a great success for Intel and they plan to keep it around for a while.

Also, you may have missed this in one of my previous messages. It included a link to the actual Intel presentation:

In a surprise move, RDRAM takes over in Intel's Foster and Server plans. This is a big reversal and a win for Rambus. DDR was to be the only memory for servers. Now I can't turn around without seeing RDRAM side by side with SDRAM and DDR in servers. From nothing in servers, to being shown side by side now, it is a big win for Rambus and a big loss for DDR.

The i870 from "DDR only" has ended up as a RDRAM/DDR now. Colusa from being "DDR only", now support for DDR has been dropped and RDRAM has been added with SDRAM. This is very good gain for RDRAM and very bad loss for DDR. (well... DDR is still vaporware and being paper-launched every month now, so I don't think they needed any more bad news ;-)
