Article...CAMPAIGN BOMBSHELL: GORE CONTRIBUTORS STAYED OVERNIGHT AT WHITE HOUSE

**Exclusive**

Campaign contributors to Al Gore’s presidential run have stayed overnight at the White House, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

The development is at the root of a White House delay in releasing a list of overnights awarded to contributors of Hillary Rodham Clinton’s Senate campaign.

"It’s an overlap!" a well-placed source insisted late Wednesday from Washington. "Most of the first lady’s supporters have also contributed to the vice president -- that does not, in any way shape or form, suggest that Mr. Gore’s contributors were given White House overnights."

But it appears that at least one individual who stayed overnight at the White House has contributed to Gore’s campaign -- and not Hillary Clinton’s.

"It’s not exactly been easy tracing the contributions of all the overnight friends and guests," said a source. "We very much want to protect people’s privacy in this matter."

White House spokesman Joe Lockhart has delayed making good on his promise to give reporters a full accounting of contributors that have stayed overnight during the past year.

Behind the scenes, according to sources, White House staffers have tried to reconcile names and dates of contributors who've stayed overnight at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and Camp David -- while neither of the Clintons were present.

"We have friends and supporters come and spend time with us and spend the night with us that we are getting to know," the first lady said last week in response to questions raised by a series of DRUDGE REPORT exclusives.

But White House staffers compiling the list quickly realized several of the "getting to know" overnight campaign contributors stayed at the White House while the first lady and the president were traveling!

Lockhart will release the names of the guests -- not the dates of the overnights.

It will be left to reporters to mix and match overnight stays with campaign contributions to the Gore campaign.
