Hybrid to Provide Look Communications Inc. with Two-Way Fixed Broadband Wireless Systems
SAN JOSE, CA, Sept. 21 /CNW/ - Hybrid Networks Inc. (Nasdaq: HYBR), the worldwide leader in MMDS fixed broadband wireless Internet-access systems, today announced that Look Communications Inc. (CDNX: LKC) has ordered Hybrid's MCS wireless system for the first phase of its plan to provide two-way fixed broadband wireless Internet service to its customers throughout Canada. The order will cover Phase I of Look Communications' effort to expand its offerings to all its business and residential customers to include two-way Internet access. The company will rollout Phase I in Toronto, Oshawa, and Vancouver in the next three months. Look Communications, Canada's largest independent Internet service provider, currently uses Hybrid's systems in 13 markets across Canada for both one-way and two-way fixed broadband wireless access. "Look's deployment of transmitter cell sites covering such key markets is a significant endorsement of our technology," said Michael D. Greenbaum, president and CEO of Hybrid Networks. "While a handful of competitors are testing equipment in trials, our products have proven to be successful in 51 deployments in countries around the world, including Canada." Hybrid's technology currently enables Look to serve markets of various population densities at a low cost by providing maintenance, management, and operations from Look's main network operation centers.
