Polycom to Integrate Net2Phone Technology

PR Newswire - September 21, 2000 08:45

Polycom's New IAD Technology Will Make Business-Class VoDSL Available
Over the Net2Phone Network

MILPITAS, Calif. and NEWARK, N.J., Sept. 21 /PRNewswire/ --
Polycom(R), Inc. (Nasdaq: PLCM), a worldwide leader in broadband
communication solutions, today announced that its NetEngine(TM) family of
network access products will be bundled with Voice over IP (VoIP)
technology from Net2Phone, Inc. (Nasdaq: NTOP), a leading provider of
voice-enhanced Internet communications services. This agreement will give
CLECs and ISPs a new way to offer low-cost long-distance and integrated
voice and data services to small and medium-sized businesses.

Polycom will implement Net2Phone's VoIP protocol across its line of
industry-leading NetEngine Integrated Access Devices (IADs) to enable
business-quality voice over DSL (VoDSL) on Net2Phone's VoIP network. In
addition, Net2Phone will make Polycom's IAD products its primary choice for
business-class VoDSL service offerings to its CLEC and ISP partners. Both
companies will jointly market this bundled solution through their respective
distribution channels.

With Polycom's new IADs incorporating Net2Phone's protocol, ISPs and
CLECs can offer their customers low-cost long-distance and integrated voice
and data services with calls that are initiated on a DSL network and routed to
Net2Phone's global VoIP network. Polycom's NetEngine IADs with support
for Net2Phone's VoIP protocol are scheduled to be available in the fourth
quarter of 2000.

"Working with Polycom, an IAD industry leader, gives Net2Phone an
opportunity to provide affordable long-distance and value-added services to
small and medium-sized businesses around the world," said David Rafiy, VP of
OEM Development for Net2Phone. "This agreement with Polycom is just the
beginning of a relationship to distribute the company's wide range of voice,
video and network access products. We look forward to a mutually rewarding
partnership."

"Net2Phone is a leader in IP telephony and Polycom is proud to be working
with a company of this caliber to drive the deployment of voice communications
over DSL and IP networks," said Hans Schwarz, general manager of
Polycom's Network Access Products division. "This strategic alliance will help
small and medium-sized companies realize the tremendous cost savings offered
by voice over DSL solutions."
