Don,
I own a progressive scan Toshiba DVD player. Even though I also own Dish Network, I hardly watch it (CNBC and MSNBC Olympic coverage excluded). I prefer buying and renting DVD movies that I like (I have a library of more than 75 movies so far all in widescreen) which I can watch without commercials whenever I want, in my home theater with dolby digital. For me, getting an HDTV just to watch DVD movies in higher resolution out of my progressive scan DVD player and in widescreen, is well worth it.
