Most of my friends were into muscle cars back then.
I was into rallying, and anything that could go reasonably quick, but also turn corners.
Used to take that Volvo, and race farm boys in daddy's Ford with the big V8, and make them look silly on the sand oil lease roads around Pigeon Lake in Alberta....ah the good old days.
Back then $5, won was a tank of gas, and maybe a beer or two to boot.
GTO's, Roadrunners, hemi Chargers and Challengers, 442's, Shelby Mustangs, 396 SS Chevelles....blow me away on the highway...but after a few beers, at the Mameo Beach dance...and the sandy lease roads, in the dark, where I knew every turn......dead meat, and a lotta guys in the ditch...my funny looking car, with seat belts, a 3' stick which would fit right in on a semi truck, fog lamps and driving lightsm dual pain in the ass SU carbs (my Webers came later, and were just as bad0.....damn, thoughts like this...I'm getting old.
