| James, from what I saw in the post I responded to, it appeared that there was a negative feeling about the Jews, even those that have converted to Christianity, and are among some of the strongest proponents for the Glory of His Name. If I was mistaken in seeing that, I apologize. I do know that Nancy is a good Christian that came from a Jewish background, and have seen her chastised, and berated, even though she has converted. That is the anti-Semitism that I rave against. The words of Martin Luther against the Jews, were bitter, hateful, and not in keeping with the Christian Faith. His main rantings were about being cheated out of money by Jews, which has nothing to do with the issue of Christianity, and is not necessarily true in the first place. In past history, the treatment of Jews by all other religions, has forced them to band together in a mutual society that offered them some protection, and it was necessary for them to become shrewd business people to survive. They didn't cheat people. Those that felt that way, showed that they were inadequate in the matter of business affairs. Also, many professed Christians have blamed the entire population of Judaism for the crucifixion of Christ, which is not the case. The Pharisees forced Pilate into crucifying Him because he was a threat to their absolute control over the Judeans. It was a matter of politics, and not religion, and since it was according to the plan of God, it had to happen for the wall between mankind and God to be torn down. Jesus taught tolerance, and I intend to emulate Him to the best of my, merely mortal, abilities. ~H~ |
