Sun Electronics To Sell PlayStation 2 Net Software, Modem
Friday, September 22, 2000
TOKYO (Nikkei)--Sun Electronics Corp. will release a software and modem set by the end of the year for accessing the Internet from the PlayStation 2 home video game console of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc., company sources said Thursday.

The Enjoy Magic set, to be priced at about 10,000 yen, makes it possible to play online games, surf the Net and exchange e-mail using a PlayStation 2 console.

The modem connects to the console's USB (Universal Serial Bus) port, giving access to the Net via analog phone lines or mobile phones. Current Internet providers can be maintained.

Sun Electronics, a communications equipment and game software developer in Aichi Prefecture, will be the first company to offer Internet access for PlayStation 2 machines.
