What Legerity announced at DSLcon is not an actual ADSL chipset, but voice chips for use with ADSL chipsets. I believe we will see Legerity announce a Quad-Port and/or Octal-Port ADSL chipset(s) for CO equipment based on Aware's IP in Q4 or in Q1 '01.

Not sure why there has been some speculation about Centillium licensing Aware IP. At this time I don't think that Centillium is an Aware customer nor do I see them becoming one in the future.

"VDSL from the same chip as ADSL is the promise of Aware's new DMTflex technology. The same central office chips can support 8 channels of ADSL or a single VDSL port, using the Alcatel compatible DMT format."

I don't think this comment has anything to do with an Aware-Alcatel relationship or with Aware using any Alcatel IP or vice versa. Burstein considers Alcatel the defacto standard in ADSL and often times shows considerable bias toward Alcatel. Without Alcatel, Burstein's DSL Prime might have already faded away due to a lack of funds. You all should be able to read between the lines there.

Sorry I could not have responded sooner.
