Jim: I agree. No doubt about it...ISDN is gaining rapid acceptance in the SOHO market. Paula is correct that there is better technology around, but it is too expensive for the small office/home office environment. ISDN is the way to go for these small to medium size companies and frankly, that is where the growth in networking is coming from...the small to mid-sized companies. So PTON should cash in for quite some time...and that will support their R&D into the next generation of networking products, which a little bird has told me will be Gigabit Ethernet. But the ANSI standards for Gigabit E. won't be ready for about another year and it will require at least another year before it gains acceptance among the larger companies, and another year before the technology filters down to the SOHO market. So, I think PTON is safe from competition from rival technology for at least two and possibly two and one-half years. And if their R&D remains good (and it is among the best in the business) one of the larger networking co's certainly will buy them out before then.
