INTEL blamed "weakness in Europe," but they didn't say
whether that means unit sales of computers were down
or simply the weak euro caused previously expected
sales levels to translate to a lower dollar figure.

Tony, Do you have an answer to this one? If it is only the euro, i believe this is more or less a one time deal. The other scenario could mean AMD or the dreaded R word in europe. Personally, i think this is where the election year phenomena kicks in. It will yield joint US/Europe defense of the euro and real pressure on opec with a probable Gore strategic reserve oil release next week. IMO, Bush, if only for political reasons, should have jumped on that bandwagon. Now he and Cheney look like mouthpieces for the oil industry and enemies of the environment. This how stupid campaigns lose elections they could have won. Regards, Mike
