Mary: AMD's management has not screwed up for well over a year now since the Athlon introduction,(I credit Hector J Ruiz for that) and Ashok is well known on hardware sites as well as investor sites for his anti-AMD bias. His roadkill quote has officially been put in JC's Semiconductors News quotes section.... and many on the AMD threads are going to save that quote to send to him if AMD meets its targets (and there has been no indication that they wont).

I have seen a couple of reports on the hardware sites discussing AMD in the last week where they interviewed sources within AMD who said they would easily make their Q3 estimates and were still quite comfortable with Q4 projections (See Dean Kent's September Industry Roundup at Real World Technologies, www.realworldtech.com) This was of Sept 12.. either AMD sources arent telling the truth.. or something drastic has happenned in the last week (unlikely) or.. they're telling the truth.

Note now too that several analysts are coming out today and saying Intels weakness in Europe could be due to AMD taking market share. As possible proof of this, look at the story in The Register yesterday, detailing how 2 of England's largest PC Retailers have embraced AMD and how sales of those units have skyrocketed (Tiny offered Athlons and on the first day of sales were selling them at a 50-50 clip to Intel.. and Tiny up til now was an Intel only store. Their major compeititor Evesham went even further saying Intel had gone from outselling AMD 3-1 to being outselled 3-1 by AMD Athlon in the span of 18 months. See this link: theregister.co.uk )

Intel is a smart company... I have my doubts they are writing off the "clown company" as Ashok "Roadkill" Kumar is. We will see come Oct 11 how AMD is faring, and whether Mr. Kumar will be eating his words.
