>>INTC produces a commodity item (CPUs) and there is competition in that space now (AMD) and so their revenues aren't right now what they might be. INTC will lower prices, AMD will fold, DELL will be able to sell PCs more cheaply and life will go on.<<

I've always had a lot of respect for your opinions on Citrix. I must say, though, that I'm puzzled by your statement that "INTC will lower prices, AMD will fold".
I know this is off topic for this thread, so pardon me for mentioning it. I was just surprised to see that you said it. As I see it, Intel didn't succeed in driving AMD out of business by lowering prices even when they had all the competitive advantages. Now, AMD's fastest processors are actually faster than Intel's, and they seem to be making considerable headway in terms of market share. Moreover, AMD is now profitable, and forecasts indicate it will stay profitable.
Given the above situation, and given the fact that Intel is having their own problems with production and revenues, why do you think they can put AMD out of business by lowering prices?
