Lindy: Each of us operates within his/her own actual individual situation. And it is hardly surprising that our "investment styles" reflect that among all other factors.

In my specific case I have built up a major taxable, repeat taxable portfolio. When I sell, government grabs one quarter to one half of the gain. That does have an impact.

The ironic part though is that this government taxation probably reinforces Gorilla Game principles. Careful choice up front and "Buy and hold" is very rational in that situation. And sales take place only when a compelling alternative presents itself.

Understand what you are doing fits your current situation and respect that. Even so, I would suggest that Qualcomm is a company which is like a coiled spring. When the power of that spring is released will be difficult to predict in advance. Therefore being in seems safer than being out, if the objective is to hold a position in the company's stock in the future.

Wish you well with whatever you decide on Qualcomm or anything else. (Must admit I miss those Quillionaire posts though - and suspect I am not alone in that). And your respect and reputation is such that your not owning Qualcomm is read as a negative re the Q's long term as well as short term future.

So have a sort of nostalgic wish for you to return to the Q when you see fit.

Best.

PS Politics draws sound, rants and not light on SI threads such as this in my experience, so I will just smile (ambiguously) and not comment.
