Ted, from my distant, myopic, singular, FWIW point of view: IBM then vs. Intel today. IBM was pretty well known to be like an elephant, but an even overweight one at that. They couldn't get out of their own way. They had far too many people, and their only way to get rid of lower performers was to transfer them to the Oskosh, WI division in January. In other words, no deadwood cleanout policy.
I hardly think that sounds anything like Intel today. OTOH, I have seen companies straighten it out by bringing in some new blood at the top VP, like development, Mfg or Marketing, level, reporting to the CEO. Then, there are also cases today where it appears a new guy at the top has made a big difference. Again WDIK. Seems like Andy Grove should be starting to boil over some, though. All we can do is watch and wait.
Buying any in the 401K?
