I disagree. In the case of India or Bangladesh, the women who come to power usually belong to some dynasty, or are the widows of male politicians banking on the "sympathy vote" and so on. In the case of the US, the women representatives and senators are people who can stand on their own merit. It is ridiculous to suggest that the women in the US are worse off than those in India or Bangladesh just because the latter have had women Prime Ministers or Presidents.
