To all,

I am so glad to find this thread for I've a problem that I hope some of you with more computer knowledge can help me out here.

I've a 700mhz AMD with a Matrox G400 Max graphic card and 3 Diamond Stealth 3D 2000 Pro graphic cards for a total of 5 monitors hookup. I also have a 256K Ram memory in my system. I use Window98 OS.

Here is my problem:

I have a Mytrack.com live-quote page on one monitor and have live chart on the other three monitors. On the fifth monitor, I have a Netscape browser open and several dynamic streaming quote windows from MyTrack.com. My problem began when I opened the second browser window (Netscape). My system would lock up where my mouse clicking would do nothing for anything I clicked on.

I had this problem when I had only 128K RAM memory. So, I thought it was insufficient RAM memory. However, after adding another 128K to make 256K total, I still have the same problem.

My question, is this the limitation of Window98 that I cannot open too many windows or programs at the same time? In other words, is there a limit to how many programs/windows I can open at the same time regardless of memory? If it is not, what can I do so I won't get lock up again when I open too many windows? Will buying more RAM memory (greater than current 256K RAM) help?

If this is Window98 limitation, is there an alternative OS out there that will resolve my dilemma? Is any of the Linux OS out there that can handle my setup without locking up?

Any responses, small or big, that will lead me to a solution will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

MS
