The move is purely psychological. What amazes me is that there is no mention in the popular press that refineries are running at capacity and the extra oil cannot be used.

My guess is that oil won't drop much below $30 before it takes back off. Additional supply will only facilitate more demand if it is accompanied by continuing growth in the economy. If the price falls much below that I would have to guess that an economic contraction (recession) is quickly approaching.
