That increase had better be too conservative! It only represents a mere 14% y-o-y increase and probably less that the market's growth rate for 2001. AMD probably needs a minimum unit sales growth of 50% over this year's sales to grow from a 20% market share in Q4 of this year to a 30% share in Q4, '01.

I estimate that they will have to sell nearly 16 million units in Q4, '01 to meet their 30% goal. Even if incremental sales growth goes relatively flat after Q4 of this year for the first three quarters of 2001 so that they sell only about 9 million units per quarter, they will still have to sell at least 42 million units next year.
