Listen, what I'm saying is that someone who works for 35 years as a janitor because they didn't have any motivation to progress and advance their lifestyle or standard of living, should not be guaranteed to receive a standard of living that is HIGHER than what they settled for as workers...

Why would ANYONE desire to make a career of low-skill level jobs except due to lack of motivation.. If we encourage folks to settle for less, "less" is what the future of society holds in store..

As for who will do these jobs, please don't insult my intelligence by assuming that there are not sufficient workers, even if foreign born immigrants ,available to perform them....

The US has a well established history of working immigrants coming to this country and performing the tasks that no one else wants to do, YET ACHIEVING FOR THEIR CHILDREN a better lifestyle...

Anyone who doubts that has only to look at the Korean, Chinese, and Vietnamese elements of our society who are REKNOWNED for demanding that their children become educated and advance in society, while mom and dad might be working 80 hours a week each....

This is not to say that other cultures don't have their respective hard-working elements, but I think the Asian community has gained a well-deserved reputation for being industrious... I had a Cambodian roomate during college who personified this. For him to fail would bring dishonor on himself and his family....

It was tremendous personal pressure on him... but success, liking making steel, requires heat and pressure to make it stronger.....

Now how Japan will handle an aging population and worker shortfall is something entirely different. They have traditionally been a homogenous society that frowns on importing labor and bestowing equal rights of citizenship...
But in the US, that hard-working diversity has been our strength, that I believe few people can dispute..

The constitution does not guarantee everyone the right to happiness...

It guarantees the right to pursue it..

Regards,

Ron
