That doesn't mean hard disk technology won't be viable in some other application - just not this one IMHO.

Just playing Devil's Advocate again.... but I think we need to recognize that flash is facing some challenges in digital photography itself at the high end because image resolutions and thus image size are growing at a ferocious pace. More to the point, though, this doesn't exclude a role for high capacity storage like hard disk in support roles such as the storage device I wrote about recently or the combined storage/display device I just proposed. To be sure, such devices will accommodate flash since one of their main reasons for existing is to upload flash to a larger space, but that doesn't mean their own storage will be flash.
