Hi all; DDoDDRN: VIA to make integrated DDR CPU. Engineering samples 1Q01:

Matthew 2 To Support DDR SDRAM [6:42 pm] Rat
We managed to find a nice shot [ watch.impress.co.jp ] telling a bit on the specs of VIA Matthew 2 CPU, a successor to Matthew. This processor should be announced in Q1 2001 already and its difference from Matthew will be an enhanced North Bridge used. Matthew features VIA Apollo Pro133A North Bridge, while Matthew 2 will be equipped with that from VIA Apollo Pro266. In other words, Matthew 2 will support DDR SDRAM. Really, why not make your integrated CPU a bit faster (some 10-15%) if DDR SDRAM costs the same as ordinary SDRAM? This seems to be quite a logical move. Especially, since it seems to be a nice response to RDRAM support introduced in Intel Timna :-)
