richard dean bagnell, OT, You married richard? We're not a Richie Rich family, by any means, but having a good and long marriage, those anniversaries pile up and as they do, so do the jewelry gifts. I certainly have been doing my part to support the gold and diamond industry. The strong dollar combined with some shrewd shopping/bargaining makes some of these baubles relatively cheap. (I've gotten to be quite good grading diamonds under the scope, ggg) Whether it be the demographics of Boomers hitting the silver anniversaries, the economic prosperity here in the US or the younger make a hole and stick some jewelry in it generation, the jewelry stores seem to be doing a good business.
The currency intervention and G-7 meeting will be a watershed event. Like Greenspan might say about inflation, its not just the actual supply and demand in the precious commodities, its the perception, which is about to change.
i.e., hold on to that ring, you'll get a better price on it next year.
