Hong Kong, Sept. 23 (Bloomberg) -- E2-Capital Holdings Ltd., a technology-focused investment bank, said it hired former Softbank Corp. executive Hideaki Shimane to head its mergers and acquisitions business based in Hong Kong.
With responsibility for cross-border transactions and the group's expansion plans in Japan, Shimane will concentrate on technology-related investments in Silicon Valley, and in Japan and elsewhere in Asia.
Shimane started at e2-Capital's Hong Kong headquarters this week as a senior vice president. He previously worked in the corporate strategy division at Softbank and before that in the merger and acquisitions division of Nomura Wasserstein Perella Co. Ltd. in Japan.
E-2 Capital was formed in September last year and merged with Goodwill Investment Holdings Ltd. in April. It has 200 employees in Hong Kong, Silicon Valley and Singapore, as well as a manufacturing business employing 1,500 people in China.
Investors in the firm include Pacific Century CyberWorks Ltd., Asia's No. 2 Internet investment company, Chinadotcom Corp., an operator of Asian news and information Web sites, and Softbank.
E-2 Capital, which has lost 28 percent of its market value this year, is to announce interim results Monday. Shares in the company fell 3 Hong Kong cents, or 4.8 percent, to 59 Hong Kong cents yesterday. |
