Chuck: I used to live in SW Missouri and occasionally got to read a Tulsa Tribune. (I knew it started with a T.) It is important to read daily newspapers to stay current with local news. One can get a good dose of international and national news off the Web, but one still has to subscribe to a daily or even weekly newspaper in order to stay current with local happenings, i.e., how the local high school volleyball team is doing and which local good ol' boys are running for county commissioner so they can fix the roads to their houses. There is no substitute for a good local newspaper. All TV gives you are the headlines; radio news just basically reads the newspaper stories anymore. We need more radio local news and less G. Gordon Felony. However, in order to provide local news, radio stations have to hire full-time reporters, and that costs money.
