Hi gruetz:

Stephanie Comfort was the CLEC analyst for MSDW
in 1998. Her track report and credibility were
pathetic, say when compared to Grubman (SSB)
or Governali (GS, formerly with CSFB). I find it
difficult to believe she is still in business, but if she
is the author of the latest MSDW research, you can toss
it. Another piece of trivia is that MSDW had arranged a
convert for WCII in the early 90's and after WCII hit
the conversion price in Spring 98, it was widely
believed that a MSDW downgrade was issued to prevent
conversion (WCII had to trade above ~$45 pre-split for 20
days). It was also believed MSDW encouraged convert
holders to short WCII to lock in the $45 share price.
The converts were finally converted earlier this year,
but there could still be bad blood between WCII and MSDW.

Regards,

Bernard Levy
