Take off your gaudy liberal hat and think about it. The SPR release and the financial support are meant to knock down the price of oil.

This helps those folks in the 3000sf ranches with the 10mpg SUVs more than it helps any poor folk. Of course some of the poor folks vote, so they gotta help them out too with extra assistance.

Looks like the SPR release is backfiring on Gore. Bush now in the lead.

Of course both parties will support assistance to the poor. They'd look like monsters if they didn't.
