Linda,

I haven't had my first cup of coffee either, so I'm not totally awake. But it seems to me that it isn't necessarily "obvious" that his decision was based "solely" on thread information. And even if it had been, I think it would have been an entirely understandable decision, in that on some threads, you have many intelligent people with similar leanings and inclinations reinforcing each other's points of view. So I can certainly see how someone could be easily lead, or mislead as the case may be, into going down the right/wrong road on a particular stock.

Having said that, you are certainly correct, IMHO, that people need to "do their own research and investigation before investing". But I think SI threads are a step beyond being "some baseless hot tip, which may or may not work out".

Basing one's investment decision largely upon informed discussions on SI threads isn't exactly what I would call irrational or misguided judgement / behavior. Or is it? :-)
