>>Korea Telecom announced its vision for the new Millenium; Leader of the Cyberworld in order to springboard into one of the top communications companies in the world by restructuring the current business structure that focuses on telephone business into growth oriented businesses such as IMT-2000 and electronic commerce. The main thrust of this vision includes focusing primary business around Internet/Data businesses, providing impeccable futuristic telecommunications service by pursuing IMT-2000 businesses, establishing itself as the dominant player in the northeast Asia by reinforcing international businesses, increasing profits in basic businesses, investing 14 trillion won until 2005 for the super-speed communications infra structures. When Korea Telecom's vision become a reality in 2005, the proportion of Internet/Data and related businesses will increase from 12% to 36%. On the other hand, the telephone business proportion will be lowered from 68% to 45%, and this will transform the company from 'a telephone company' to 'Information distribution company, and will establish itself as the top company in the cyber world. Meanwhile, during the ceremony, for the first time in Korea, an event was held to store a time capsule with the visions of the entire 40,000 employees of Korea Telecom in the cyber world.<<
