Chaz, wrt to SUNW's approach--NFS is an old thing that has become a published standard and supported by all UNIX OS. What SUN did a few months ago is announce a NAS product, which is really a prepackaged, preloaded SUN Sparc with RAID 5 disk arrays and network interface cards. They has a NAS product a few years ago, but the performance was so dismal, they withdrew the product.
