Milo - RE: "AMD Introduces Powerful and Power Friendly AMD-K6-2E+, AMD-K6-IIIE+ Embedded Processors
Low-power Usage Processors Feature Innovative AMD PowerNow! Technology"

This press release is basically an indication that the K6-2+ has seen its last days in a PC. Maybe AMD can get it up to 575 and 600MHz for the holiday season, but that's all folks.

In other words, AMD's K6 family of microprocessors has served its last days in duty.

They had quite a run, especially at the peak in the second half of 1998 and beginning of 1999 when the K6-2 dominated retail, but like watching a roller coaster there were downs for each up.

It revolutionized the PC industry and still never made a lot of money, but it got AMD to Athlon.
