As for the nationnalism, it must not be confounded with socialism. Nationalism in Quebec is a mix of fear that the French get flooded by the English, especially in Mtl where there's still only half of the pop that speaks french at home, and rancour for the past. What would be any big US city reaction if the english language was so much threatened? Montreal will probably be 70% english in 30 years...

Max,

I forgot that you are from Québec. Your point about English taking over the city is well made......I can understand how it must feel to have your city lose the feel of the predominate culture.....and Montréal is a special city. I do not understand when you say in 30 years the #s of those who speak English will increase to 70%. I thought most of the English speaking Canadians have moved to Ontario. Isn't MTL bilingual now?

I don't really justify the behaviour of nationalist, I explain it. Human nature says beautiful thing on itself but most of the time, the morality is pushed away in favor of the preservation of it's situation. Survival takes several faces.

I said in another post that I do not like the attitude of some of the Québecois. They seem to demand to much from the national gov't. Do you agree or disagree? Is it possible that there is more to the story that what I have seen?

You talk about survival....you mean the French culture is in jeopardy.....and not the lives of the French speaking Canadians?

Je regrette but I have one more question......have the Québecois made the economy better now that they control Québec....not just MTL but the country outside MTL as well. Your opinion of course.
