One of the things, that people start to open their eyes to, now, is the fact, that Microsoft actually takes money to correct errors. If you found a Windows 95 specific error, the simple solution is to upgrade to Windows 98. It is not possible to upgrade the faulty part alone, without paying license.
I just read an article about a guy, who upgraded a SuSE Linux from one version to another. The upgrade was cancelled in the middle. Half of his system is upgraded, the other half is not. It has worked perfectly since, which is a couple of months.
The upgrade policies are so different, and when people know both policies, Microsofts upgrade policy seems extremely arrogant. I know, that it would be a great expense and less income for Microsoft to change its policy, but the question is: Maybe Microsoft will have to change its policy?
The main reasons for not using Linux, that I hear now, are:
- Where do we get support? - How do we run our software?
With Red Hat 7.0 High Availability Server, support is much better at Red Hat than at Microsoft. Running the software gets easier and easier, because networks are getting more and more heterogeneous... |
