Dybdahl, I don't think what you are saying is completely true. To my knowledge, one can download many fixes from www.microsoft.com. Maybe not all - E.g. Even for Windows 95, try out

microsoft.com

It seems that a bunch of fixes are given away as add-on service packs. Not every problem of every customer can be fixed on a free fix basis in a timely manner considering the added burden that would create to a product that sells so much and the possible havoc it could cause to some customers due to possible incompatibilities resulting due to the fixes themselves. But I assume larger customers should be able pull some weight. I agree that Microsoft needs to improve on this record as time goes on.

As to Red Hat, it is peddling a product it didn't completely design or create. Before plunging in with their software, one should consider the ramifications of this fact. Also, how much do they charge for such support ?
